India’s cricketing icon and RCB stalwart, Virat Kohli, has broken his silence following the horrific terror attack that shook Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. On April 22, militants ambushed tourists near the Baisaran meadow in Anantnag, resulting in one of the deadliest civilian attacks in the region since Pulwama in 2019.

At least 28 lives were lost, and over 20 individuals sustained injuries in the brutal assault. The victims included civilians from multiple Indian states such as Maharashtra, Karnataka, Kerala, West Bengal, Gujarat, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and Haryana, as well as two foreign nationals from Nepal and the UAE.

Taking to Instagram, Virat Kohli expressed his grief and solidarity with the affected families. “Deeply saddened by the heinous attack in Pahalgam on innocent people,” he wrote. “Heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims. Praying for peace and strength to all those who lost their loved ones. Justice must prevail for this cruel act.”

The attack, claimed by The Resistance Front (TRF)—an offshoot of Lashkar-e-Taiba—has drawn sharp condemnation from across the globe. In response, Prime Minister Narendra Modi cut short his diplomatic visit to Saudi Arabia and returned to India for an emergency meeting with senior officials including NSA Ajit Doval and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar.
PM Modi assured the nation that those behind this cowardly act “will be brought to justice and will not be spared.”
