Star Indian batsman Virat Kohli surprised fans by bowling during India’s match against the Netherlands in the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023. Kohli came into bowl the 23rd over of the innings, much to the delight of the crowd at his home ground, the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru.
Kohli bowled right-arm medium pace and gave away six runs in his first over. However, he managed to take the wicket of Netherlands captain Scott Edwards in his second over. Edwards was strangled down the leg side on the third ball of the over, giving Kohli his first wicket of the tournament.
Kohli’s bowling spell came after Mohammed Siraj walked off the field due to a throat injury. Anushka Sharma, Kohli’s wife, was seen cheering her husband on from the stands, and her reaction to his wicket-taking delivery quickly went viral on social media. Kohli’s bowling performance was a welcome surprise for Indian fans, and it will be interesting to see if he continues to bowl in the knockout stages of the World Cup.
