Former Australian batter Michael Clarke lauded Virat Kohli as the ‘greatest’ cricketer to have played one-day cricket. On Tuesday, March 4, Kohli smashed 84 runs against Australia and helped India reach the final of the Champions Trophy as well. Kohli’s knock, with five fours, guided the team through a four-wicket win at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium.

However, Virat Kohli came to bat at No.3 after Shubman Gill got out cheaply with India chasing a target of 265. Although he got out to leg-spinner Adam Zampa in the 43rd over, he made sure to help his team have the upperhand. Kohli also failed against New Zealand and Bangladesh, but scored an unbeaten 100 against Pakistan as well.

“Once again, he assessed the conditions brilliantly. A class player, he knew exactly what his team needed and how to put them in a position to win the game. We saw the same in his century against Pakistan,” Clarke was quoted as saying on JioHotstar. “Virat has every shot in the book—there’s no questioning his ability to find boundaries. He is, in my opinion, the greatest one-day cricketer of all time, and he continues to prove it on the biggest stage, under the highest pressure. He knows what to do, and he delivers when it matters most,” Clarke further added.

After Rohit Sharma got out to Cooper Connolly, Virat Kohli joined hands with Shreyas Iyer and added an important 91-run partnership for the fourth wicket as well. He was dismissed while trying to take the attack to Adam Zampa. In the ongoing Champions Trophy, Kohli has scored 217 runs from four games at an average of 72.33 so far as well.
