Indian captain Virat Kohli’s official website was hacked by some Bangladeshi fans as the protest of Liton Das’ stumping dismissal in the Asia Cup 2018 final, which they believe an unfair decision.
The Asia Cup 2018 final was played on last Friday (September 28) at Dubai where Bangladesh lost the thrilling game against India, who secured their victory on the very last ball of the game. Batting first on that game, Bangladesh was bundled out for 222 runs, despite their 120-run partnership for the opening wicket.
Bangladeshi opening batsman Liton Das played a great knock as he scored a brilliant century and was dismissed on 121 runs off 117 balls. However, many Bangladeshi fans raised questions on Das’ dismissal in that game. During the 41st over of that innings that was bowled by Kuldeep Yadav, Das was stumped by the Indian wicketkeeper MS Dhoni. The leg-umpire went for the third umpire while the replay showed that Das’ right-foot was on the line and also there was no evidence of his foot to crossing the line. Hence, the third umpire gave his decision as out.
Many Bangladesh fans can’t agree with that decision as they are claiming that Das should be given not out as most of the benefit of doubts go in favour of the batsmen. They believe that dismissal cost Bangladesh the match.
Recently, as revenge, some Bangladeshi fans hacked the Indian captain Virat Kohli’s official website, according to Dhaka Tribune. They posted a logo (a beheaded man with two wings) with the caption of Hacked by CSI, some pictures of Das’ dismissal and a message for International Cricket Council (ICC).
Their message was, “Dear ICC, Didn’t Cricket use to be a gentlemen’s game? Shouldn’t every team have fair rights? Please explain how it was out? If you don’t officially apologize to the whole world and take actions against the umpire then get ready to be hacked every single time you recover the site.
“And my fellow Indian brothers and sisters, We mean no disrespect to you guys. Please think about it. How would you feel if injustice was done with your team? Every single national team should be treated equally in the game.”
Incidentally, Kohli didn’t feature in that whole tournament as he was rested. Rohit Sharma led the Indian cricket team in the Asia Cup 2018.
