Virat Kohli and Yuvraj Singh paid heartfelt tributes after the passing of former India U-19 and Punjab pacer Amanjeet Singh Gill at the age of 36. The former right-arm medium pacer represented Punjab in domestic cricket and was regarded as a dedicated and hardworking figure within the Indian cricket circuit.

Amanjeet played six first-class matches for Punjab between 2006 and 2008, taking 11 wickets. He was also a member of India’s Under-19 squad in 2007 alongside future stars such as Virat Kohli, Ravindra Jadeja and Piyush Chawla.
One of the highlights of Amanjeet’s career came during the 2007 U-19 Tri-Series featuring India, Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. The Punjab pacer emerged as one of the standout performers in the tournament, picking up nine wickets at an impressive average of 9.44 and helping India lift the title.

He was also associated with Punjab Kings, formerly known as Kings XI Punjab, during his cricketing journey. Kohli expressed his grief through an emotional social media post. “Shocked and saddened to hear about Amanpreet Gill’s passing. Sending prayers and strength to his family and loved ones. Rest in peace. Om Shanti,” Kohli wrote.

Yuvraj Singh also remembered his former teammate fondly and described him as a humble cricketer who loved the game deeply.
“Deeply saddened to hear about Amanpreet Singh Gill’s passing. Shared the dressing room in our early days, he was a quiet, hardworking cricketer who loved the game. My heartfelt condolences to his family and loved ones. Rest in peace. Om Shanti,” Yuvraj posted.

Even after retiring from professional cricket, Amanjeet remained closely connected to the sport. He later served as a member of the senior selection committee at the Punjab Cricket Association and continued contributing to Punjab cricket development.

The Punjab Cricket Association also mourned his demise, remembering his passion, dedication and long-standing service to cricket in the state. They wrote: ” Punjab Cricket Association deeply mourns the sad demise of Amanpreet Singh Gill, former Punjab cricketer and Member, Senior Selection Committee Punjab. He served Punjab cricket with dedication and passion, representing teams including India Under-19s, Kings XI Punjab and Punjab. Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family and loved ones. May Waheguru grant eternal peace to the departed soul and strength to the family in this difficult time. 🙏 Cremation will take place today at 4:00 PM at Manimajra Cremation Ground.”
