In a playful pre-match moment at the IPL 2024 clash between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), Virat Kohli, the Orange Cap holder, showcased his mischievous side. Kohli, known for his competitive spirit, was spotted engaging in some banter with KKR opener Sunil Narine, hinting at bowling the first over.
As Mohammed Siraj eventually took the ball for the opening over, Kohli amused the crowd by mimicking a bowler’s warm-up routine, adding a touch of humour to the proceedings. In a light-hearted exchange, he jokingly warned Narine to stay alert, suggesting that he might unleash his bowling prowess at any moment during the match.

However, Kohli’s antics failed to deter the explosive start by KKR’s opening duo, Sunil Narine and Phil Salt. The pair launched a blistering assault on the RCB bowlers, living up to their reputation as aggressive hitters. Salt, in particular, wreaked havoc on the bowling attack, coming agonizingly close to achieving one of IPL’s fastest half-centuries.
Despite Salt’s onslaught, RCB’s Mohammed Siraj came to the rescue, dismissing him after a fiery innings of 48 runs off just 13 balls. Salt’s departure brought a momentary relief for RCB, but the onslaught continued as KKR’s Narine kept the pressure on.

In a crucial breakthrough, RCB’s Yash Dayal deceived Narine with a well-executed slower delivery, resulting in a mistimed shot that landed safely in the hands of none other than Virat Kohli, who made no mistake with the catch.
While RCB managed to break the partnerships and pick up key wickets, they also faced the brunt of KKR’s aggressive batting display, conceding 76 runs in the powerplay. Despite the early setbacks, RCB remained determined to bounce back and turn the tide in their favor as the match progressed.
