The first Test between India and West Indies witnessed a different side of Indian captain Virat Kohli. Known for his animated demeanor on the field, Kohli displayed a more relaxed and chilled-out attitude during the match, which saw India secure a commanding victory. Rohit Sharma and his team wrapped up the series opener in just three days, defeating the hosts by an innings and a massive margin of 141 runs.

Ravichandran Ashwin emerged as the standout performer, taking a total of 12 wickets across both innings, while Yashasvi Jaiswal made a memorable debut with a brilliant knock of 171 runs. Amidst the dominant display, Kohli appeared remarkably calm throughout the match. On the third day, during the innings break, the former India captain treated the crowd in Dominica to some impromptu dance moves, showcasing a lighthearted side of his personality.

After winning the toss and electing to bat first, West Indies, led by Kraigg Brathwaite, could only manage a modest total of 150 runs. In response, Rohit and Jaiswal hammered centuries, putting India in a commanding position. With a massive lead of 271 runs, Rohit decided to declare the innings when India reached 421/5. Subsequently, West Indies came out to bat for the second time.

Before taking the field for the opposition’s second innings, Kohli was spotted dancing near the boundary ropes, exhibiting a celebratory mood. His upbeat demeanor was in line with the performance of the Indian team, which eventually secured a 1-0 lead in the series by restricting West Indies to a meager total of 130 runs in their second innings.

Ravichandran Ashwin played a crucial role in dismantling the West Indies batting lineup, picking up seven wickets in the second innings to add to his five-wicket haul from the first innings.
