The year 2021 was indeed special for the Indian Test skipper, Virat Kohli as he became a father for the first time. His wife Anushka Sharma gave birth to a baby girl, and the couple named her Vamika. Notably, Kohli had left Team India midway through the all-important tour of Australia to attend his child’s birth. He revealed the good news on January 11 earlier this year, with a post on social media platforms.

In his post, Virat Kohli had thanked his fans and well-wishers for their blessings and revealed that his wife and kid are safe and healthy. The tweet instantly became a hit on social media with teh sudden flow of congratulatory messages which came from different quarters. From former and current cricketers to Bollywood celebrities and politicians, many wished Kohli and his actress wife. Interestingly, that announcement post from Kohli is the most liked tweet of 2021.

On Thursday, Twitter India wrote: “@imVkohli blessing our timelines with this good news was the Most Liked Tweet of 2021. Notably, that post garnered over 5.4 lakh likes on the micro-blogging website. Speaking of what the post read, Kohli was ‘thrilled’ to announce the arrival of his baby girl. He also urged the media and his fans to respect his privacy.

When the medical infrastructure and kits needed the utmost help in India, Australia’s pace bowler Pat Cummins stepped up to donate for the cause. In the same light of events, his tweet has become the most retweeted tweet in India for the year 2021. 

The report which marked his tweet as the most retweeted one also studied the most used hashtags for one year period in India and it was a no-brainer that COVID-19 topped the chart.
