India is currently locking horns with Sri Lanka in the opening fixture of the two-match Test series against Sri Lanka in Mohali, it is also the 100th Test of the career of former Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, who has become the 12th Indian cricket to reach the landmark. The Indian players who have played 100 Test matches include Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid, Sourav Ganguly, VVS Laxman, and Virender Sehwag.

Several former cricketers have come forward and congratulated Virat Kohli for reaching the landmark. However, he also has the chance of becoming the first Indian cricketer, to score a century in his 100th Test. He will also join the elite list of batters who have done so in the past and will be the 10th batsman overall.

The Delhi-based cricketer has amassed 7962 runs in 99 Tests with an average of 50.39. This series will be the first for Rohit Sharma as the Indian Test captain. He will look to have a winning start to his leadership and the team are favorites going into the series.

Earlier in the game, the Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma had won the toss and decided to bat first. India lost both their openers, Rohit and Mayank Agarwal in the first 19 overs themselves. Virat Kohli came out to bat after the dismissal of Mayank in the 19th over and Virat received a huge uproar from the crowd as they welcomed him on his 100th Test.

However, Virat Kohli received a special from his sister Bhawna Kohli on his landmark 100th Test. In her Instagram story, she wrote: “So so so proud of you, this is a journey of hard work, dedication, and passion. Just thankful to the god for this day. You have made us all proud Virat and we all love you. Congratulations little brother, you are the champ!! You deserve every bit of success!!”
