Despite Royal Challengers Bangalore’s slow start in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL), their star player Virat Kohli has been a shining beacon of form and consistency. As it stands, Kohli leads the charts as the highest run-scorer in IPL 2024, an achievement underscored by being the sole batsman to breach the 200-run mark thus far.

Virat Kohli’s journey back to competitive cricket after a hiatus since January, spent with his pregnant wife Anushka Sharma, culminated in the birth of their second child in February. Returning to the fray in IPL 2024 after skipping the England Test series, Kohli’s form has been nothing short of stellar. He kicked off his campaign with a brisk 20-ball 21 against Chennai Super Kings, followed by two consecutive half-centuries.

His standout performances include a robust 77 against Punjab Kings and an unbeaten 82 against Kolkata Knight Riders. Despite a relatively modest outing against Lucknow Super Giants, where he managed 22 runs, Kohli’s consistency remains commendable.

Currently in action against Rajasthan Royals at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur, Kohli continues to impress. Batting at 53 off 40 balls at the time of writing, he added a touch of flair to his innings by emulating his India teammate Ravichandran Ashwin’s iconic leave maneuver.

Recalling Ashwin’s memorable leave during the 2022 T20 World Cup clash against Pakistan, where India needed 2 off 1 ball, Kohli replicated the same move against Ashwin during the IPL encounter. As Ashwin bowled one down the leg side, Kohli, with a smile, allowed the ball to pass, reminiscent of the composed stance Ashwin exhibited in the high-stakes World Cup match.

This light-hearted yet skillful exchange between two cricketing stalwarts added a delightful touch to the ongoing IPL saga, showcasing the camaraderie and competitiveness that define the sport.
