In a surprising turn of events, the participation of star Indian batter Virat Kohli in the next T20 World Cup has been thrown into doubt, with the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and selectors set to discuss his future in the shortest format of the game. A source close to the development revealed to Sports Tak that Kohli’s T20I future is uncertain, with no guarantee of his inclusion in the squad for the World Cup.
“As of now it looks very difficult for him to make the cut,” the source stated, adding that the management will hold discussions with Kohli before reaching a final decision.
The source further indicated that Rohit Sharma will continue to lead the team in the T20 format if he decides to play. “See we have informed Rohit that if he will play he will lead the team and you players will be there in the squad so he (Rohit) and the coach needs to take care of it,” the source explained.

Despite his remarkable record in T20Is, with over 4,000 runs and a plethora of accolades, Kohli’s recent form has raised concerns among the selectors. His strike rate has dipped in recent times, and he has failed to live up to his usual standards.
Kohli’s performance in the IPL has also been inconsistent, with his strike rate and average falling below his career averages. However, he remains a valuable member of the RCB batting lineup, and his experience and leadership qualities cannot be overlooked.
The BCCI’s decision to discuss Kohli’s future in T20Is is a significant one, and it remains to be seen whether he will be a part of India’s plans for the next World Cup. Kohli’s T20I career hangs in the balance, and the upcoming discussions will determine his future in the format.
