Virat Kohli marked his comeback in T20 International cricket after a hiatus of over 14 months, contributing significantly to India’s triumph in the second T20I against Afghanistan. Kohli’s return not only boosted India’s batting lineup but also elicited an enthusiastic reception from fans at the Holkar Stadium in Indore on January 14th.

During the match, an incident captured the spotlight when a fervent fan breached security to get up close and personal with the cricketing icon. In the 18th over of Afghanistan’s inning, the fan managed to enter the field, ran towards Kohli, hugged him, and even touched the batter’s feet. The incident, which was caught on video, created a buzz on social media.

Subsequently, the intruding fan was swiftly escorted out of the stadium, and reports indicate that he has been detained by the police at the Tukoganj police station for the security breach. Interestingly, it has been disclosed that the fan possessed a valid match ticket and entered the venue through the Narendra Hirwani Gate.

The police are currently interrogating the individual, and further legal actions will be taken as deemed necessary. Shifting focus to the match itself, the Rohit Sharma-led Indian side opted to field first against Afghanistan in the second T20I held in Indore.

Riding on Gulbadin’s explosive 57 off 35 balls, Afghanistan posted a total of 172/10 in their allotted 20 overs. India’s bowling attack, led by Arshdeep with three wickets, along with contributions from Ravi Bishnoi, Axar Patel, and Shivam Dube, restricted the Afghan innings.

In the chase, half-centuries from Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shivam Dube guided India to victory, reaching the target in just 15.4 overs with six wickets in hand. With this win, India secured the series ahead of the final match, scheduled to take place at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on January 17th.
