Indian cricket legend Virender Sehwag and his wife, Aarti Ahlawat, are reportedly heading toward separation after 20 years of marriage. The couple, who married in 2004, is said to have been living apart for several months, although neither has released an official statement confirming the news. Sehwag, known for his explosive batting style, enjoyed a stellar international career spanning from 1999 to 2013.

Aarti, his wife, has largely stayed out of the limelight, despite being married to one of India’s most celebrated cricketers. Their love story began in the early 2000s, culminating in a grand wedding held at the residence of the late Arun Jaitley, then India’s Finance Minister. The couple has two sons: Aryavir, born in 2007, and Vedant, born in 2010.

Aarti was born on December 16, 1980, in New Delhi. She pursued her early education at Lady Irwin Secondary School and Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan before completing a diploma in Computer Science at Maitreyi College, Delhi University.

Speculation about a rift in their relationship began during the 2023 Diwali celebrations. Sehwag shared festive photos featuring his sons and mother but conspicuously excluded Aarti, raising eyebrows. Further fueling rumours, Sehwag recently visited the Vishwa Nagayakshi Temple in Palakkad and shared photos on Instagram without mentioning Aarti.

The couple has unfollowed each other on Instagram, which many see as an indication of their increasing estrangement. Since retiring, Sehwag has been active in multiple capacities. He is a member of the National Anti-Doping Agency’s Appeal Panel, works as a cricket commentator, and has played a key role in founding the Sehwag International School, demonstrating his dedication to fostering young talent.
