Sehwag is currently in Dubai but recently, a newspaper advertisement of Rashtriya Loktantrik Party, from Rajasthan, has used his name. After noticing it, Sehwag alerted on this fake news through his official social media accounts and slammed it by calling “shameless campaign”.

The 40-year-old posted that advertisement image on his social media accounts and wrote, “LIAR ALERT I am in Dubai & have had no communication with any of these guys. When these Liars can shamelessly lie in the name of their campaign & try to fool people, wonder how much they will fool people if by any chance they come to power. Anything is better than deceit & lies.”

The right-handed opening batsman had a long international cricket career from April 1999 to March 2013. Sehwag played 104 Tests, 251 ODIs and 19 T20Is where he scored 8,586 runs (average 49.34), 8,273 runs (average 35.05) and 394 runs (average 21.88) respectively. Also, Sehwag took a total of 136 international wickets (40 Test wickets and 96 ODI wickets) as a right-arm off-break bowler.

During his international career, the Indian cricket team achieved many successes, including the 2002 ICC Champions Trophy (joint winner), 2007 ICC World T20 and 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup victories.

In his international career, Sehwag also led his nation in 17 international matches (4 Tests, 12 ODIs and only T20I). In India’s T20I history, Sehwag was the first captain when the nation made their T20I debut against South Africa at Johannesburg on December 1, 2006.
