Virender Sehwag Immensely Criticized The Captaincy Of Rishabh Pant

On Tuesday, Delhi Capitals (DC) suffered a close 1-un defeat against the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in a thrilling match. Both teams locked horns with each other in an attempt to come out on top. However, in the end, it felt like both yeh teams deserved to win a game given the way they went about their business. DC required 14 runs to win off the last over and they had the likes of Shimron Hetmyer and Rishabh Pant at the crease.

Both the batsmen scored a half-century, but failed to get eth team over the line, courtesy of Mohammed Siraj’s brilliant last over. AB de Villiers helped RCB post 171/5 in 20 overs as he played a match-winning knock of 42-ball 75*. He smashed 3 fours and 5 sixes, striking the balls in excess of 178.

Meanwhile, the former Indian opener, Virender Sehwag took a dig at the captaincy of Rishabh Pant. The Nawab of Najafgarh asked Rishabh Pant to play smartly and use the bowling resources according to the situation. During the 20th over of RCB’s innings, Marcus Stoinis came out to bowl his first over of eth innings and ended up conceding 23 runs whereas Amit Mishra didn’t finish his quota of 4 overs. Sehwag further added saying that he won’t give him even 5 marks out of 10 for his captaincy.

During a post-match chat on Cricbuzz, Virender Sehwag said, “I won’t give him even five marks out of 10 for his captaincy because you just can’t make such mistakes. If your main bowler isn’t bowling, your calculations go wrong – that’s what captaincy is all about. You need to take care of that. A captain must manage his bowling resources according to the situation.”
