Former Indian opener, Virender Sehwag has said that Delhi Capitals (DC) spinner Kuldeep Yadav will have to take on extra responsibility this season. DC will be locking horns with KL Rahul’s Lucknow Super Giants in their opening match of IPL 2023 at Ekana Stadium in Lucknow. Speaking to Cricbuzz, Sehwag said Kuldeep will enjoy bowling on the Delhi pitch and will have to take up extra responsibility in the team.

DC will be missing the services of South Africa pacer Anrich Nortje for their opener against LSG as he’s playing for his national side in their two-match ODI series against the Netherlands.

Explaining the same, Virender Sehwag said, “Until all the players become available, Kuldeep Yadav will need to take on extra responsibility. He will enjoy bowling on the Delhi pitch, which sometimes remains low and turning. He will look to build on the confidence that he got from last season, which also helped him make a comeback into the Indian team.”

Former Indian batter Manoj Tiwary said Indian all-rounder Axar Patel will also be expected to play a crucial role for DC as he is in red-hot form. Axar was one of India’s stand-out players in their 2-1 win over Australia in the Border-Gavaskar series.

Explaining the same, Manoj Tiwary said, “Delhi have a good team on paper and they have done well over the past few seasons. They have managed to replace Pant with a talented Bengal wicketkeeper in Abhishek Porel. But I feel if they are to do well this season, Axar Patel’s performances will become crucial as he is in red-hot form.”

The Capitals won’t have the services of Rishabh Pant for the IPL 2023 after he sustained multiple injuries in a car accident. David Warner is appointed as a stand-in skipper. Bengal’s Abhishek Porel has replaced Pant for the wicketkeeper’s slot. As for LSG, they will be without left-arm pacer Mohsin Khan, as he is yet to recover from an injury on his left shoulder.
