Former Indian opener, Virender Sehwag has showered praises on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper, MS Dhoni, saying only he could have taken this side to the final of IPL 2023. CSK beat defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) in the first Qualifier by 15 runs to book a spot in the final.

Sehwag took to social media to post his thoughts following CSK’s qualification to the IPL 2023 final, saying only Dhoni could’ve taken CSK to the summit clash while calling them a wonderful team. CSK registered their record-extending 10th final of the tournament, which will take place on May 28 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

“Chennai Superkings. What a wonderful team. Leadership is about getting the best out of your resources and with the bowling line up Chennai had, only MS Dhoni could have taken them into the finals. That is why he is who he is and receives the love that he does,” Virender Sehwag posted on his Instagram account.

With looming doubts over Dhoni’s retirement from the IPL, the former Indian skipper said that he has ample time to decide his future, adding that he will always be there for CSK in some capacity.

“I don’t know. I have 8-9 months to decide. The small auction will be around December. So why to take that headache right now? I have ample time to decide. But, I will always be there for CSK whether it’s in the playing form or sitting somewhere outside,” MS Dhoni told Harsha Bhogle for the official broadcasters.

This will be the 10th time that CSK will feature in the final of the IPL, having won the prestigious tournament on four occasions. As for GT, they will now face the winner of the Eliminator between Lucknow Super Giants and Mumbai Indians at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Friday.
