Former Indian opener, Virender Sehwag has commented that the Mumbai Indians should not complete a hat-trick of championship wins in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League. The Mumbai-based franchise emerged as the champions in the previous two seasons. They defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the IPL 2019 Final followed by a win over Delhi Capitals (DC) in IPL 2020 Final.
MI was the numero uno position on both occasions in the league stage. However, this year, it seems highly unlikely because teams like Chennai Super Kings and the Delhi Capitals are way ahead of MI on the IPL 2021 Points Table.
On Friday, there was a match between the Punjab Kings (PBKS) and the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the ongoing 14th edition of the IPL. Before the match, Virender Sehwag appeared on Cricbuzz’s Hindi chat show, where he discussed the playoffs scenarios of various IPL teams.

The Mumbai Indians need to perform well in their last three league games in order to reach the IPL 2021 playoffs, and Virender Sehwag feels they can do it.
Talkinga bout MI, Virender Sehwag was heard saying, “Looking at Mumbai’s history, it says that whenever they find themselves in a situation where they are currently in IPL 2021, they have won the do-or-die games, qualified for the playoffs and they have even made it to the final. So, if we look at the historic aspect, yes, Mumbai Indians can do it again.”
Virender Sehwag continued and added that he was not a big fan of the historical aspect of the game, and thus, he desired to see a new champion in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League.
