Virender Sehwag has offered some heartfelt advice to Rishabh Pant, urging the struggling Lucknow Super Giants skipper to seek help if he’s feeling mentally off. Speaking on Cricbuzz after Lucknow’s 37-run defeat to Punjab Kings in Dharamsala on May 4, Sehwag said Pant should reach out to people he trusts—especially someone like MS Dhoni, if he sees him as a mentor.

Pant’s performance has been underwhelming this season. He managed just 18 runs in the latest outing and has now scored only 128 runs in 11 games at an average of 12.8—a far cry from his usual explosive self.

Virender Sehwag suggested a simple remedy to rebuild confidence: revisit his own past. “He should watch videos of himself batting when he was in form. That helps you recall your approach and get your confidence back,” Sehwag said.

He further added, “He has a phone, he can call anyone. If he thinks he’s not in the right mental space, there are many who can help him. And if Dhoni is someone he considers a mentor, he should reach out to him.”

Rishabh Pant’s poor run has coincided with Lucknow Super Giants’ slide down the points table. The team has lost crucial games, and with overseas stars like Mitchell Marsh and Nicholas Pooran also misfiring, their playoff hopes are hanging by a thread.

Despite the recent setback, Rishabh Pant remains optimistic. With three games left, the LSG captain still hopes for a late surge into the playoffs. But with just 10 points from 11 matches and a negative net run rate of -0.47, even three wins might not be enough to secure a top-four finish.

Lucknow’s next must-win clash is at home against Royal Challengers Bengaluru on May 9—a game that could define their campaign.
