The ongoing World Test Championship (WTC) final between Virat Kohli’s India and Kane Williamson-led New Zealand have already seen two washed-out days. However, Day 5 was for the Indian bowlers as the pace attack damaged the most. Starting the day at 101/2, New Zealand were bundled out for 249, courtesy of Mohammed Shami’s four-fer which impressed the former India batsman VVS Laxman.

The batting legend applauded the stunning captaincy of Kohli and gave credit to him for the necessary changes which he did with his bowling attack. While speaking to Star Sports, the veteran has said Ross Taylor’s wicket was a result of the fantastic captaincy from Virat Kohli.

“A lot of credit for Ross Taylor wicket should be given to Virat Kohli. Ross Taylor has the tendency to play in the air when he plays the drives and Shubman Gill was stationed there, just parallel to the crease, silly mid-off position and that’s the reason why he caught that blinder. Fantastic captaincy, a fantastic display of fast bowling,” stated VVS Laxman.

He further added: “It took a while to take the wicket of Ross Taylor but right from the word go the intensity of the Indian fast bowlers, what we were expecting from Indian fast bowlers, that was to be seen. Fantastic display of fast bowling, control aggression and a lot of discipline and also hats off to Virat Kohli,” VVS Laxman told Star Sports.

However, New Zealand started the day at 101/2 but it couldn’t stay long as Mohammed Shami provided the first breakthrough of the day by dismissing Ross Taylor where he trapped him in front and then removed wicketkeeper-batsman BJ Watling. Later, all-rounder Colin de Grandhomme and Kyle Jamieson also became victims as well.
