VVS Laxman hails ‘destructive’ Shewag in his Elite Twitter Thread

On Friday, Indian Legend VVS Laxman lavished praise on former Indian opener Virender Sehwag. Laxman spoke on Shewag’s self-belief and positivity adding how the Delhite established himself as the most destructive opener in Test history.

“Cocking a snook at those who questioned his pedigree against high-quality fast bowling, @virendersehwag went on to establish himself as one of the most destructive openers in Test history. Viru’s immense self-belief and positivity was as mind-boggling as it was infectious,” Laxman tweeted.

Virender Sehwag is known for his explosive batting style. He sent shivers down the spine of many bowlers during his playing time just by his sheer presence and aggressive attitude. Shewag is known amongst the most destructive batsmen to play cricket.

The Indian opener’s records speak for the Delhite’s domination with the bat across the 22-yard pitch. He was a vital cog in India’s success across al formats under various captains. He has formed many solid partnerships with legend Sachin Tendulkar and cricketer-turned-politician Gautam Gambhir.

Before retiring in 2015, Virender Sehwag featured in over 250 ODIs for India accumulating  8273 with 15 centuries to his name. He also donned the national jersey 19 times in T20Is scoring nearly 400 runs.  Shewag has also amassed 23 hundred and 32 half-centuries while scoring over 8586 runs in 104 Tests.

Amid, the lockdown, VVS Laxman is busy paying tributes fellow countrymen. He praises his Indian teammates who had an influence on him and his career.
