VVS Laxman Reveals The Life Lessons Learned From MS Dhoni

Former Indian skipper, MS Dhoni, announced his retirement from international cricket last week, but during the fag end of his career he helped the youngsters. His former teammates KL Rahul and Yuzvendra Chahal had also admitted that they were socked by their former skipper’s decision. Former India cricketer VVS Laxman has explained how Dhoni ensured that he receives respect from all parts of the world.

Laxman reckons that players get love from fans for their achievements but there is no guarantee of respect. Explaining the same, VVS Laxman said, “Love comes from the cricketing fans for your cricketing achievements, but respect comes by the way you have conducted yourself, by the way, you carried yourself. And I always felt that captaining the Indian team is probably the toughest challenge for anyone, you know because there are so many of expectations from everyone around the world.”

During a  show on Star Sports, he further elaborated, “But MS Dhoni has always been emotionally detached from the results. The way he has inspired millions of Indians, not only the sports fans but millions of Indians on how to conduct and how to become an ambassador of your country, how to carry yourself in the public domain. And that’s why he’s so respected. Around the world, all the former cricketers, all the cricketing fraternity have thanked MS Dhoni for his contribution to world cricket.”

MS Dhoni holds the records of being the only captain in the history of cricket to win all 3 ICC trophies in the limited-overs format, but he has been a very private person for whole his life. After India’s exit from the 2019 World Cup, MS decided to join the 106 Territorial Army Battalion (Para), in Jammu and Kashmir on and carried out duties with the troops.

Recently it was revealed that during his paratrooper’s training in Agra, he blended well with the locals and people started to believe that he was an Agra native. MS Dhoni retired from Test cricket with much of chaos in 2014, gave up his limited over the captaincy in silence in 2017, and finally exited from international cricket with a simple Instagram post.

MS Dhoni will be seen leading the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) colors in IPL 2020 in UAE on September 19.
