Former West Indies’ fast bowler, Courtney Walsh, is not only world’s current fifth-highest wicket-taker in Test matches, but, also one of the most dreadful bowlers of all time. With Curtly Ambrose sharing the load from the other end, the duo will be remembered as one of the best new ball opening pair of all time.
In his 17-year old career, Walsh played 132 test matches and clinched 519 wickets at an average of 24.44, an economy rate of 2.53 and a strike rate of 57.8. In 205 ODI appearances, he picked up 227 wickets at an average of 30.47, an economy rate of 3.83 and a strike rate of 47.6.
During the first innings of the third test of Australia’s tour of West Indies in 1995 at Port of Spain, Trinidad, Walsh bowled an exceptional spell with the new ball.
