Whenever players extend their purple patch, they receive rounds of applause from fans all over the world. The flamboyant Mumbai Indians (MI) batter, Suryakumar Yadav received the same honor on Friday, as he kept on carrying his incredible form in IPL with a flamboyant hundred against GT. He failed to do much in the first few games of the IPL 2023 and a lot of people speculated that this won’t be his season.
However, the stylish batter silenced the critics in style as his incredible consistency in the last six outings, where he scored 4 half-centuries and played an instrumental role to bring MI back to the Playoffs contention. Adding to that, what he did at Wankhede against defending champions Gujarat Titans (GT) was nothing but outstanding.

Suryakumar made an in-form bowling attack, consisting of Rashid Khan, Mohammed Shami, Noor Ahmad, and Mohit Sharma, look like men against boys on his way to reaching the maiden IPL hundred. In total, he smashed 11 fours and six sixes in his stupendous knock of 49-ball 103, in which he reached the feat by hitting a six off the last ball of the innings. Even before he reached there, the Wankhede crowd was confident about SKY surpassing the 100-run mark, and hence, they began to chant his name in large numbers.
In the penultimate over of the innings, Suryakumar Yadav sliced a delivery from Mohammad Shami to hit an incredible six over short third man. Following that, MI’s mentor, Sachin Tendulkar could be seen playing out the same shot in the pavilion as he showed it to Piyush Chawla who was sitting beside him to witness the Surya show.

Talking more about the shot, Surya displayed his flamboyance on the second delivery of the 18th over when Shami pitched a delivery up on the off side which was acrobatically directed by Surya to take a leap over the short third man. It left an impression as if he intended to power it down the ground but flicked his wrist right on time to give effect to the mesmerizing hit.
