Former Pakistan pacer, Wasim Akram has always been a great admirer of Virat Kohli as he feels that the latter would have made life difficult for the best bowlers of the past. However, Waqar Younis doesn’t agree with the opinion of his former teammate and feels that he had bowled to some of the stalwarts of the game.

Waqar can arguably be termed as the best swing bowlers that Pakistan has ever produced in its cricketing history. He was simply unplayable in the bowler-friendly conditions and was a nightmare for the batters. The former pacer was also given nicknames like Burewala Express and The Toe Crusher by the fans. His lethal pace, late swing, and yorkers used to make life difficult for the batsmen on the crease.

Recently, Younis said that it is wrong to say that he never came across a batsman equivalent to Virat Kohli. He said that he had earned his wickets by dismissing stalwarts like Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Martin Crowe, and Viv Richards.

The 48-year-old also recited that he earned the reputation of being a great bowler by bowling against some of the greatest batsmen of all-time. According to him, he had the ability to dismiss the batsmen during his cricketing days. And, it would have been nothing different if he was playing in modern-day cricket.

As per the quotes in CrciketrPakistan.com., Waqar said, “I won’t give such a statement because it will be wrong to say that we did not have a player like Virat Kohli during our playing days. I bowled against a few of the best batsmen in the world such as Sachin Tendulkar, Brian Lara, Martin Crowe, and Viv Richards.”

He further elaborated, “I made a name for myself by bowling to such great players. I will put a question mark on this statement because I had some skills about getting batsmen out, back in the day, and it would not have changed even if I was playing these days as well.”
