CSK failed to reach the playoffs after they lost to RCB in their final league game. During an interaction with Sportskeeda, Akram said, “[On MS Dhoni’s future] I have a gut feeling, he’ll be done after this. Players like him come in a lifetime, it all depends on him. [On Memorable six] His legacy is not just that [110m] six, it’s something else. He’s done a lot for Indian cricket. He brought the mindset. As a captain, he brought calmness, played captaincy knocks, the way he became a finisher, the way he has groomed players, and showed consistency, so this will be his legacy. But, yes, for fans the last image will be that 110-metre six at his age, it’s incredible fitness. It will only be a glimpse of his legacy.”

However, MS Dhoni holds the record for the most IPL appearances (264). And, Dhoni also became the first player in the history of the cash-rich league to feature in 250 matches. He also achieved this remarkable feat last year during the IPL final against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad as well. The IPL 2023 final also witnessed Dhoni becoming the first player to play in 11 summit clashes since the inaugural season in 2008 as well. However, MS Dhoni gave away the leadership duties of Chennai Super Kings ahead of this season’s IPL and Ruturaj Gaikwad was appointed the captain as well.
