Pakistan’s humiliating loss to India in the Champions Trophy 2025 has sparked sharp criticism from fast-bowling legend Wasim Akram. The former Pakistan captain has demanded sweeping changes to revive the team’s white-ball fortunes, emphasizing that drastic steps are necessary after their lacklustre performances.

Wasim Akram’s frustration didn’t just stop at Pakistan’s on-field display—he even took a humorous yet pointed dig at the players’ diet. During a chat show Dressing Room alongside Waqar Younis, Ajay Jadeja, and Nikhil Chopra, he expressed disbelief over Pakistan cricketers feasting on bananas during the drinks break.

“It was either the second or third drinks break, and I saw a plate full of bananas being brought out. Itne kele bandar bhi nahi khaate (Even monkeys don’t eat so many bananas). And this is their diet? How many bananas did you eat while bowling, Waqar?” Wasim Akram quipped, leaving the panel in splits.

He further joked that the legendary all-rounder wouldn’t have spared them if they had eaten bananas during Imran Khan’s captaincy. His comments reflect the growing frustration among former players and fans over the team’s preparation and discipline.
The match itself was a one-sided affair, with Virat Kohli’s unbeaten century steering India to a comfortable six-wicket win. Pakistan’s batting unit struggled to post a competitive total, and the bowlers couldn’t make an impact, highlighting their inconsistency.
