India captain Rohit Sharma showed great composure and delivered an amazing knock with controlled aggression as he scored his maiden Test hundred against Australia in the first Test of the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Rohit also became the first Indian captain to score centuries in all three formats of the game as well.

However, he reached the feat in his third Test as Indian captain and his 46th overall. With this, Rohit also became India’s tenth captain to score a Test century against Australia as well and he joined the elite group of superstar batters who have reached the feat against the Aussies. Moreover, India took a crucial lead in the first innings.

The India captain has now scored his second consecutive hundred in international cricket, in his first Test since March 2022. He also completed his 30th ODI century in his previous appearance for India, against New Zealand on January 24 in Indore as well.
