The fiery Indian batter, Suryakumar Yadav has had a tough time in the ongoing ODI series between India and Australia. The right-hander was dismissed for golden ducks in the first couple of games, falling to Mitchell Starc in an identical fashion. Starc caught Yadav plumb in front of the wickets on both occasions, which left India reeling in the opening overs of the first two ODI games.
While KL Rahul and Ravindra Jadeja rescued India in the first ODI, Australia ran through the Indian line-up in the second match at Vizag, bowling them out for just 117 runs. Former India batter Wasim Jaffer, while speaking to ESPNcricinfo said that the Indian management could choose to give a chance to Sanju Samson in the final ODI match of the series.

Talking about the preparation of Suryakumar Yadav said, “We might sympathize with Suryakumar Yadav as the first ball that he faced was of 145 clicks. No doubt that it’s challenging when a left-arm seamer tries to bring the ball back in. Again, he should have anticipated that when Mitchell Starc bowls, he will attack the stumps and might swing the ball.”
Jaffer felt that Samson had done well in the limited chances he had received in the ODI format and deserved a spot in the team. Samson, from his 11 outings for India in the 50-over format has scored 330 runs at an average of 66.

Elaborating the same, Wasim Jaffer said, “We have to see if the management sticks with him in the third ODI otherwise it’s not a bad option to give Sanju Samson a chance because he has played well when given the opportunity and is a good player.”
India will be playing their final match of the series on 22 March in Chennai.
