The Indian Test specialist, Cheteshwar Pujara was one of India’s standout performers for the Indian team in the 2020-21 edition of the Border Gavaskar Trophy. Among the Indian batsmen, he was second on the list of leading run-getter after Rishabh Pant. In eight innings, Pujara had amassed 271 runs with three half-centuries at an average of 33.87, though he batted cautiously at a strike rate of 29.20.
However, in the series decider at The Gabba in Brisbane, Pujara showed a great amount of grit and determination. He registered scores of 25 and 56, but he had to cop quite a few blows on his body. Marcus Harris, who was also a part of the game, recently asserted that Pujara batted like an Australian.

Meanwhile, former Indian opener, Wasim Jaffer had a rib-tickling reply to Harris’ comments. The veteran took a hilarious jibe at the Aussie batters as well. Jaffer took to Twitter and wrote, “Wonder why the Australians didn’t bat like Australians.”

Earlier, Marcus Harris said Cheteshwar Pujara’s knock of 56 on Day 5 of the Test match was one of the final nails in the coffin for the hosts in the thrilling series decider at Australia’s fortress that was breached by Team India.
uring a recent chat on Cricket Life Stories’ YouTube channel, Marcus Harris said, “The final day was amazing to watch. The thought process the whole day was ‘are they going to for the runs or are they not?’. I think Rishabh played the best innings that day, but for Pujara to be copping an absolute barrage from everyone and wore them down, I felt he batted a bit like an Australian, taking everything on the chest and got on with it. Everyone else batted around him.”

Harris also showered praises on Rishabh Pant, saying the young wicketkeeper-batsman proved he is a ‘magical talent’ with his match-winning innings.
Marcus Harris further added, “Rishabh Pant’s innings was unbelievable. Everyone says he has magic in him, and he has shown that a couple of times now. It was disappointing to lose the series but sometimes in cricket you just have to tip your hat and say ‘well done’.”
