India has started their warm-ups of the T20 World Cup 2021 with a win against England. On Monday, October 18, the Virat Kohli-led team beat England by seven wickets at the ICC Academy Ground in Dubai where they chased down a total of 189 with one over in hand. After the win, former Indian cricketer Wasim Jaffer took a slight dig at Michael Vaughan.

However, Jaffer was impressed with KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan, they both opened the innings and scored half-centuries. While Kishan made a stunning 46-ball 70 with seven fours and three sixes, KL Rahul made 51 runs off 24 balls with six fours and three sixes before Mark Wood removed him.

Jaffer praised Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Ravi Ashwin for their stunning shows with the ball. Shami picked up three wickets whereas Bumrah removed Jonny Bairstow. Ashwin, on the other hand, conceded only 23 runs in four overs as well.

Meanwhile, Wasim Jaffer also took a little dig at former England captain Michael Vaughan as he was surprised seeing Vaughan staying away from social media for some time. Jaffer took to Twitter and wrote, “3 things stood out in this win: 1: KL and Ishan with the bat. 2: Boom, Ash & Shami with the ball. 3: MichaelVaughan staying offline #INDvENG #T20WorldCup.”

Michael Vaughan, meanwhile also replied to Jaffer with a funny message. He also said that results in warm-up matches are quite irrelevant and don’t have much significance too. Vaughan replied, “Too busy drinking Rum on the beach Wasim … Btw … Warm up games are Irrelevant …”

As far as the warm-up game is concerned, India registered a seven-wicket victory against England in the warm-up match on Monday, October 18 at ICC Cricket Academy Ground in Dubai. England posted 188 runs while batting first and India reached the target in 19 overs on the back of fifties from KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan. However, it was Rishabh Pant who finished the chase in style.

After being asked to bat first, England lost a couple of early wickets of Jason Roy (17) and Jos Buttler (18). But, Jonny Bairstow (49) and Moeen Ali (43*) steadied the ship and helped England post 188/5. For India, Mohammed Shami claimed three wickets, whereas Jasprit Bumrah and Rahul Chahar took one wicket each.

In reply to England’s 188, India got off to a flying start as openers KL Rahul (51) and Ishan Kishan (70) stitched an 82-run stand before the former got out in the ninth over. Rishabh Pant then scored a quick cameo towards the end, scoring an unbeaten 29 off 14 balls. He smashed a six in the penultimate over and helped his side register a seven-wicket victory in the warm-up match against England.
