Indian ex-cricketer Wasim Jaffer recently took a lighthearted jab at Pakistan’s early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024. The Babar Azam-led side was knocked out of the tournament after the United States secured a point against Ireland due to an abandoned match caused by rain. This result allowed the USA to advance to the Super Eight phase, leaving Pakistan out of the competition.

In response, Jaffer shared a memorable clip from Andre Russell’s Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) interview on social media platform X, drawing a parallel to the reaction of Pakistan fans.

Jaffer’s post included the caption, “Pak fans to Babar and co right now,” suggesting that the feelings of disappointment and confusion among Pakistani supporters mirrored those in the interview.

The referenced interview dates back to Duronto Dhaka’s BPL triumph the previous year, where West Indies all-rounder Andre Russell was asked by a Bangladeshi reporter, “Final match you perform, what happening?” This clip quickly became popular among cricket fans globally for its humorous tone.

Fans on X found Wasim Jaffer’s comparison hilarious, responding with a flurry of laughing emojis. Some praised Jaffer’s comedic timing, with one user calling him the “Meme King.” Others speculated on Babar Azam’s confusion, with comments like, “Babar be like, we will discuss about it,” and, “Even Babar don’t know what’s happening.” Jaffer was further applauded as the “Best Memer in cricket circles,” with admirers appreciating his ever-reliable sense of humor.

Wasim Jaffer isn’t the only one to have referenced this meme in cricket circles recently. The USA team also recreated the meme after securing their spot in the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup.

During their locker room celebrations, American pacer Ali Khan humorously asked his teammate Aaron Jones, “First World Cup, you perform what happening?” Jones played along, responding, “What you mean?” USA Cricket shared this amusing exchange on Instagram, adding to the light-hearted banter.

Pakistan’s campaign in the T20 World Cup saw them suffer consecutive losses against the USA and India before registering wins against Canada and Ireland. Unfortunately, they missed out on a Super Eight spot by a single point. With their tournament journey over, Pakistan will now prepare for their next assignment, an ODI series against Australia in November.
