Former India player Wasim Jaffer is known for his witty and humorous nature which we often get to see on social media. Once again, he came up with a cheeky reply and trolled Kevin Pietersen for his tweet after New Zealand beat England in the semi-final of the ICC T20 World Cup.
However, Pietersen had earlier tweeted that the two teams who can defeat England are Pakistan and Afghanistan only and that too if the game takes place on a used wicket in Sharjah. However, Kane Williamson-led New Zealand beat England in the first semi-final of the ongoing T20 World Cup and his prediction went wrong.
“Only Pakistan or Afghanistan can beat England in this T20 World Cup. BUT and it’s a BIG BUT, the game would have to be played on a used wicket in Sharjah. Anywhere else, just hand England the trophy like Chelsea should be handed the EPL trophy RIGHT NOW!,” read Pietersen’s tweet from November 2. To which, Wasim Jaffer posted a picture of Kane Williamson, with a funny caption “Haa, hum to yaha bass Burj Khalifa dekhne aaye hai.” (“Yeah, because we have just come to see the Burj Khalifa”)

However, New Zealand has registered a stunning victory against England in Abu Dhabi on November 10 to reach the maiden T20 World Cup final. While chasing 167, Daryl Mitchell’s unbeaten 72 off 47 and James Neesham’s aggressive 11-ball 27-run cameo took them to the finish line.

While praising Mitchell’s effort, captain Kane Williamson said post-match: “Definitely something that stood out today (Mitchell’s character). Has batted beautifully in a high-pressure situation. T20 cricket – it’s a game of small margins. Depending on the surface, the short side – these things can be match-defining. He came out and hit the ball hard, that’s what he does (Neesham). Changed the momentum really. Fantastic knock from Daryll, hit the big shots when it counted. We’ll be following that match – going to be fantastic. We know we have another challenge coming up and we’ll change our focus after tonight.”
Daryl Mitchell, who won the Player of the Match award, said: “It was a bit of a whirl at the end there. I couldn’t remember what was going on, but I’m happy I got the job done. It was a challenging surface, with the new ball, and it was two-paced. The way Conway set the platform and Neesh hit a few out of the ground was amazing. We knew one or two good overs would do it, and we got the momentum back thanks to Neesham’s hitting.”
