Punjab Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad locked horn in the 14th match of the Indian Premier League 2021 in pursuit to revive their campaign. While SRH were coming into this game with three successive defeats, PKBS managed only a single win in their first three games and were desperate to come back on winning ways.
KL Rahul’s team came out to bat after he won the toss but that was the only thing that went in their favour. SRH bowlers didn’t allow the opposition batsmen to score freely, which triggered a massive collapse. Punjab Kings lost half of their side for just 63 runs in 11 overs with all the designated batsmen were back in the hut.

Sunrisers Hyderabad skipper David Warner tossed the new ball to Abhishek Sharma, who didn’t disappoint his skipper at all. He accounted for two wickets while conceding just 24 runs in his four overs. Bit-hitting batsman Deepak Hooda was his first victim, which came off a carrom ball. Everyone was quite surprised to see Abhishek bowling a carrom ball.

SRH bowlers restricted PKBS for a mere 120 runs. Khaleel Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers with three wickets at the cost of 21 runs in his four overs. David Warner and Jonny Bairstow began the run-chase well as they shared 73 runs for the opening wicket. The inclusion of Kane Williamson further strengthened their middle-order as he came out to bat at number three. He remained not out for 16 runs along with Bairstow, who finished on an unbeaten 63 runs, where he hit three fours and three sixes. They finally won the game by nine wickets to register their first win of the IPL 2021.
