With the help of skipper Virat Kohli’s brilliant century supported by half-centuries from Cheteshwar Pujara & Hardik Pandya, Team India set a massive 521-run target for England’s victory who has replied 23/0 at the end of the third Test of the ongoing five-match Test series at Trent Bridge (Nottingham).

However, on Day 4, the English openers, Alastair Cook and Keaton Jennings came out to bat with 23 runs on the board, but both the dismissed by Ishant Sharma inside the first three overs of the day. English skipper, Joe Root along with the young Ollie Pope shown some resistance in the middle only to be dismissed in back-to-back overs of Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami respectively.

A lot of credit for Root and Pope’s dismissals should also go to the brilliant catches by KL Rahul and Virat Kohli at second and third slip respectively and England was down to 66/4 and their chances of winning or drawing the Test match was diminished further as their in-form wicket-keeper batsman Jonny Bairstow is already sustaining a fracture in his middle finger of his left hand and his chances of coming out to bat are pretty meager, which leaves Team India to take five more wickets to win the game.

KL Rahul’s catch

Talking about Root’s dismissal, it was a superb catch at second slip by Rahul. It was a thick edge, with Root pushing hard at a shortish delivery well outside off, which could’ve left alone, but Bumrah’s angle lures Root into playing. It always fascinates right-handers into playing. The outside edge flies to Rahul’s right, who thrusts out both of his hands by keeping his eyes on the ball all the way and takes it like an absolute boss. It completed five catches in the match, all at second slip. In both the innings, Root was grabbed by Rahul

Coming to Pope’s wicket, it was another mind-blowing grab, but this time it was Virat Kohli, who leaped to his right from third slip with his hands in the reverse-cup position, stretching high above his head seeking the ball, only to get the red cherry stick to his hands. It was some superb reflexes shown by the Indian skipper. However, there was no denying the fact that Pope played a poor shot. Soon after he sees his senior partner depart, he throws his hands at a full delivery at the seventh stump line and he edged it only to be grabbed by Virat.
