We often see several different things during games and pitch invader is one of them. Recently the game between St Kitts and Nevis Patriots and Guyana Amazon Warriors in the Caribbean Premier League witnessed something like this.

However, this time, the invader wasn’t a man but a bird as well. This happened around the 10th over of St Kitts and Nevis Patriots’ chase. They were chasing a total of 167 runs and won by 6 wickets as well. Sherfane Rutherford scored an unbeaten 59 runs after the opening stand of 69 runs between Devon Thomas and Evin Lewis.

However, after the win, Man of the Match Sherfane Rutherford said: “An emotional moment (receiving hug from Hetmyer). I had a point to prove. It was good to come out here and show what we can do. Thanks to my team as well to give me the confidence to play with free mind. After last year, I went back to the drawing board. It was always hard work. After a bad tournament, you don’t want a repeat. I gave it my all, with hard work there’s always reward.”

He continued: “Coming into this team there was this opportunity to bat early. I want to show that I am a batsman. It’s good for me how it’s going along. (On Dwayne Bravo) He’s a cool guy, there’s a lot of support for me. He gave more confidence to execute. I am someone who prays a lot, I make it my duty to pray a lot, without God nothing is possible.”

On the other hand, Dwayne Bravo, the captain was elated with the win. He was also happy the way they won the game as well.

He said: “It’s a great feeling to play in front of the fans. Good to see them back in the stadium, good for us as players. With a victory like this, it gives us belief as a group. At the halfway stage we were the happier team. The way our bowlers pulled it back, it was encouraging. Drakes has been outstanding for us, the leader of our pack. Paul (van Meekeren) contributed with the ball too. All we needed was for Evin and Devon to stay determined, get us that good start, set up the game and we can finish in the end.”
