However, the announcement came after Sunrisers Hyderabad’s wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha and Delhi Capitals’ veteran spinner Amit Mishra have been tested positive for the deadly virus. It started with two cricketers from the Kolkata Knight Riders’ (KKR) camp – Varun Chakravarthy and Sandeep Warrior who had tested positive and then, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have also shared the news of their bowling coach L Balaji has been tested positive as well.

However, on Tuesday, CSK, the three-time IPL title winner, took to Twitter and shared a memorable video from the 14th edition of the cash-rich league with their fans as well. “A re-ride of the #Summerof2021! Thirumbi Varuvom,” CSK posted the video with the caption as well, and also assured fans that they would be back “to finish what they had started” too.

However, Chennai Super Kings’ post soon became viral as fans showed their appreciation in the comments section as well. “Thanks For the memories this season, thala @msdhoni,” wrote a CSK fan.

“Refreshed my memories,” another fan commented where another user shared, “#SummerOf2021 will end with #WinterOf2021 seeing #CSK as 4 times @IPL champions.” On the other hand, two other fans have also shared the screenshot of the last frame of the video where Chennai Super Kings have promised to “finish what they had started”, and wrote, “We are waiting for it,” and “Thanks for the hope guys.”

As far as Chennai Super Kings’ performance in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League is concerned, they finished at the second spot in the IPL points table with 10 points. After a forgettable run in IPL 2020, where CSK failed to qualify for the playoffs for the very first time since the first edition of the cash-rich league, the MS Dhoni-led side did well this season as well.

However, CSK had played seven matches this season and won five as well. Meanwhile, Chennai Super Kings lost only twice against the defending champion Mumbai Indians (MI) and Rishabh Pant-led Delhi Capitals (DC) in this season as well.
