On Monday, the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by six wickets, thanks to the dominant half-centuries from KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal, in a thrilling match at the IS Bindra Stadium.

Chris Gayle signed off from the ground after the victory on Monday night, breaking into another impromptu Bhangra session just like the way he had earlier in the day on his way to the stadium for the match. Here is the video of the same:

Last season Gayle scored a century against SRH in Mohali – during a stunning assault, he bashed Rashid Khan for four successive sixes. Ahead of the game on Monday, Gayle became the to score 4000 IPL runs and the first player to hit 300 sixes in the IPL. But in the game, Rashid dismissed him while attempting for a six, but ended up getting caught by Deepak Hooda at long on.

After the dismissal of Gayle, the two Karnataka friends, Rahul and Agarwal’s partnership kept the KXIP ahead as they added 114 runs for the second wicket. Both of them played calculative strokes and got to their respective half-centuries. But the Mayank’s wicket in the 18th turned things dramatically.

The death bowling was back at its best for the SRH as the equation came down to 11 off the final over which Mohammad Nabi had to bowl. Rahul had failed to take the team through against the CSK only in the last game and he was once again at the helm with all pressure on him. However, the champion batsman got a timely boundary for his team with six runs needing off three balls.

Then David Warner mis-fielded under pressure as the KXIP got to the target with just a ball to spare. Actually, the match shouldn’t have gone to the last over but the hosts have made it a habit it seems.

With the win, KXIP moved into the top 3 in the IPL points table, with 8 points from 6 matches, incidentally piping SRH on net run-rate.
