County Championship has seen a stunning knock from Dan Lawrence who smashed a whopping 152 not out from only 133 balls, which also included 16 fours and 6 sixes as well. It happened on Day 2 of LV Insurance County Championship as Essex did well against Derbyshire following a not-so-good show on the first day. However, Essex put every Derbyshire bowler under pressure after they were put in to bat first. They added 412 runs for three which came only from only 76 overs.

However, the openers Nick Browne and Sir Alastair Cook scored 59 and 58 runs respectively. They added a great partnership of 137 runs before Dan Lawrence joined the skipper Tom Westley and stitched another partnership of 221 runs until Westley got out by Matt Critchley as well. Tom Westley, however, smashed a hundred, scoring 106 off 112 with 15 fours and a six. Meanwhile, Derbyshire finished with a rather forgettable way on 35 for three as well as Essex batsmen’s onslaught turned the table.

On the other hand, Simon Harmer claimed a stunning nine-wicket haul during the first innings which helped Essex restricted their opponent during their clash against Derbyshire. Harmer dismantled the Derbyshire lineup that was already struggling by stumps on day 2 at 35/3. However, the off-spinner picked up all seven wickets to fall on the third day as Derbyshire could manage only 146.

Having earned a massive 266-run lead, Essex then enforced a follow-on and started well when James Porter got Luis Reece out for a duck. However, no other damage took place as Derbyshire reached stumps at 97/1 as well. While Billy Godleman scored 45, Brooke Guest hit 65 and they both stitched a 97-run stand as well. Currently, they are playing at 126 for 3 after 44 overs, trail by 140 runs as well. And, they need to put up a great show to avoid defeat on the final day of the game as well.
