Team India was expected to bounce back in the final T20I against Sri Lanka after losing the second game of the three-match series. That wasn’t the case on Thursday during the series decider as things unfolded in a weird way for them and nothing went their way apart from the toss.
India’s batting lineup had a day off in the office with every batsman failed to weather the storm. Shikhar Dhawan got out for a golden duck in the first over of the match. Devdutt Padikkal looked promising but lost his wicket in a most strange way.

Although, there was nothing strange about the ball or the shot that Padikkal played but things were messy during his dismissal. Ramesh Mendis was bowling the fourth over of Sri Lanka’s bowling innings. He trapped Padikkal in front of wickets on the last ball of the over and straightaway went up in appeal.
Padikkal wasn’t sure where the ball went and got off for a single. Ruturaj Gaikwad was batting with him and he wasn’t interested in that run. The fielder was quick to respond and threw the ball towards the wicketkeeper who wiped the bails off to catch Padikkal short. Umpire Kumar Dharmasena raised his finger but no one was sure of the manner of his dismissal whether he was lbw or runout.

Takes a special player to be dismissed twice in one delivery.#padikkal

Poor umpiring by Dharmasena. If he gave Padikkal Out LBW, the runout wouldn't stand. He should have stopped the batsman and asked if he wanted to review.#Cricket #BCCI #SLvIND

If Dharmasena had given him out LBW but Padikkal appeals on DRS & somehow survives the LBW shout, then would he have been runout or the ball dead 🤔@EdmundBayliss https://t.co/Z5lxMv4guv

Devdutt Padikkal gets out as LBW and runout but as the first mode of dismissal was LBW it is given out as LBW #INDvSL

🤣🤣speak from India's perspective bro!He's clearly out lbw,even if it's runout..its isn't Rutu's fault..if he had listened to padikkal,rutu would have been out by a mile

However, the replays later confirmed that he was trapped in front of the wicket and was out leg before.

This wicket of Padikkal opened up the floodgates and the Indian middle-order crumbled in front of Wanindu Hasaranga’s spin bowling, who bagged a four-fer on his birthday. Hasaranga registered the figures of 4/9 in his four overs.
India’s misery with the bat ended at 81/8 in 20 overs where Kuldeep Yadav was the top scorer with 23 runs.
