The Indian skipper, Virat Kohli became one of the very few cricketers who have a stand or pavilion dedicated to their name. He received the honor during the renaming ceremony of the iconic Feroz Shah Stadium to Arun Jaitley Stadium. During the same ceremony, the players of the Indian team were also felicitated for their exceptional performances in recent times.
While Home Minister Amit Shah was the chief guest, Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju was the Guest of Honour for the ceremony. Almost all the players of Team India attended the ceremony.
Speaking during the event, Kohli was finding it difficult to address the honor. However, he said, “Never thought I would be honored at such a grand scale. Don’t know how to address this as my family, wife, brother, sister-in-law are here. It was in 2001 (2000) during a match against Zimbabwe, my childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma gave me two tickets.”

In what came as a light-hearted moment during the ceremony, anchor Manish Paul asked the Indian head coach Ravi Shastri about Kohli’s favorite music playlist especially when he’s in a calm mood. Replying to the same, Shastri quirckily said, “Make Shikhar Dhawan sit with him and see the enjoyment. There will be plentiful songs. He is sitting in the second row. Ask him.”
The onus then shifted from Shastri to the flamboyant opening batsman Shikhar Dhawan. Standing tall on his brilliant sense of humor, Shikhar didn’t shy away from making everyone laugh instantly. He counter question the host by saying, “Before the wedding or after the wedding.”
Adding further, Dhawan elaborated, “Virat [Kohli] is fond of listening to Punjabi songs. He really likes Gurdas Maan sahab’s songs. He likes love songs. He is a fan of Arijit Singh. Whenever we are sitting in the room, he listens to these singers. Then there are other Punjabi songs as well.”
