The incident occurred during the 13th over, which Varun Chakravarthy came into the bowl. He bowled the third ball of his over down the leg-side which Dhawan let go and the umpire called it wide. Karthik whipped off the stumps and made a stumping appeal. However, he didn’t make a stumping appeal to the umpire, instead, he appealed to Dhawan himself.

Dhawan saw the light side of it and he straightaway went onto his knees while being inside the crease. The incident was so hilarious that even commentators burst into laughter straightaway.

Earlier, Rishabh Pant won the toss and elected to bowl first. KKR openers were unable to give their team a solid start. Shubhman Gill scored 43 runs while Andre Russell’s late cameo pushed KKR’s total to 154/6 in 20 overs. Lalit Yadav shined with the ball as he claimed two wickets in the middle-overs.

Shikhar Dhawan played the second fiddle to Shaw and scored 46 runs off 47 balls. He opted to let Shaw do all the damage while keeping the other end tight.

Shaw notched up the fastest fifty of this season by reaching the milestone in just 18 balls. He scored 82 runs in 41 balls, where he hit 11 fours and three sixes. Pat Cummins took three wickets when Delhi was close to the target but that wasn’t enough for KKR as DC cruised to the target with 21 balls to spare and seven wickets in hand.
