England bowled beautifully to dismiss Sri Lanka for 185 runs, where Kusal Perera and Wanindu Hasaranga were the chief contributors with the bat. Both batsmen scored crucial fifties and stitched together 99 runs for the fourth wicket. But they didn’t get any help from other players. Apart from these two, only C Karunaratne managed to score in double digits.

Chasing 186, Jonny Bairstow gave a blazing start to his team while scoring 43 runs in just 21 balls. However, England lost four wickets within no time. But Joe Root and Moeen Ali steadied the ship to take England home with five wickets in hand. Root scored unbeaten 79 runs.

Chris Woakes’ spell of 10-5-18-4 earned him the man of the match for a sensational bowling display.
