A five-year-old child who has been suffering from brain cancer on Thursday was seen assisting in the ‘bat flip’ during the ongoing Big Bash League (BBL) game between Brisbane Heat and Hobart Hurricanes. With this, his dream also came true. The kid, named Slater Walker, is reportedly a huge fan of the BBL franchise Brisbane Heat, who was called in the ground as a guest of honour.

“Assisting with the bat flip tonight is 5-year-old Slater Walker. Unfortunately, Slater is suffering from brain cancer, but is a massive @HeatBBL fan and is the guest of honour at the Gabba tonight. Enjoy the match, Slater,” BBL tweeted.

In the BBL, normal coin toss, which is usually used in cricket matches across the globe, has been replaced by the bat flip where the away team captain calls ‘hills’ or ‘roofs’ in the match to take their call. The only condition is followed that the bat needs to complete one full rotation before landing on the ground.

This bat-flip toss was first tried during the 2018 edition of the Big Bash League and it has been taking place since then. In the match, the Hurricanes had won the toss and opted to bat first against the hosts. The visitors put up 126 for 9 from their 20 overs and Brisbane Heat chased down the target with 10 balls remaining courtesy a late assault by the all-rounder Ben Cutting.
