We have seen many brilliant fielding efforts so far in men’s cricket. But women’s cricket is no less in recent times and it was once again proved yesterday when India all-rounder Harleen Deol took a jaw-dropping catch at the boundary edge to remove England’s, Amy Jones.
It happened during the first T20I against England when Harleen Deol pulled off a stunner and it will be remembered as one of the greatest catches of all time as well. She was fielding at long-off when Amy Jones hit one towards her in the penultimate over of the innings for a big one. But Deol’s brilliant effort sent her in.

After the catch, everyone praised her athletic skill. Her teammate and the senior pro Shikha Pandey, who was the bowler in that over, said that from now on, we shall call this type of catch as ‘Harleen catch.’ “Not the result we wanted but we play for moments like these!! Decided- From now on we shall call this type of catch as ‘Harleen catch’! You beauty Harleen Deol #DefyingGravity,” she wrote on Twitter.

Meanwhile, Nat Sciver said: “It’s brilliant. We don’t see many of those catches in the women’s game. We see quite a few of those in the men’s game but hopefully this can be the start of a few more that we see in our game. I’d love to have one of those; that’s what you practise for, you have a little go at the end of the session or whatever it is, but it [Amy Jones’ by Harleen Deol] was a brilliant catch.”
