As they say, catches win matches, it proves right on several occasions. While good batting and bowling performance is important, fielding too a key part. In recent times, fielding has shown a lot of improvement. And, as an example, we can probably take the stunner of Jordan Cox in the T20 Blast final at Edgbaston.

Jordan Cox

The 20-year-old grabbed one of the greatest catches of all time after scoring an unbeaten 58. His 28-ball innings, including three fours and three sixes, helped Kent Spitfires to a total of 167-7 in the final where he scored 14 runs off the final three balls of the innings as well.

Meanwhile, the incident happened when Lewis Gregory hit a big shot but Cox, diving full length over the rope, saved it and threw it to Matt Milnes, who completed the stunning catch as well. However, Cox was awarded man-of-the-match for his impressive work.

And, his all-round effort helped his side won by 25 runs. And, this was Kent’s second T20 Blast title and came 14 years after their first one as well.

Jordan Cox, after winning the Player of the Match award, said: “Unbelievable. Was focused on not getting another first-baller. Just decided to nudge it around for the first 10 and from then on just push on. Unfortunately it doesn’t go down as my catch (referring to Gregory’s dismissal). Just good to get the win if I’m honest. It’s great to be around those big dogs [Darren Stevens, Sam Billings and others] in the dressing room.”

Sam Billings, the Kent captain said: “Can’t really put it into words to be honest. A lot of hard work behind the scenes. To a man, it’s been incredibly impressive. It’s for everyone. It’s for the fans as much as us. Winning breeds confidence. We have been one of the best sides in the country for the last 2-3 years. We’ve earned that through the hard work that everyone’s put in. It’s exactly what we’re about – young guys coming through and giving them an environment to be able to come in and flourish. We set such high standards as a squad and keep pushing each other.”
