The Indian Premier League has so far seen a lot of things –  be it a thrilling final-over win or run-fest as well. However, during the game between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR), a heart touching incident took place on Thursday where Jos Buttler was seen tying the shoelaces of RCB opener Devdutt Padikkal and that wins the hearts of every fan. It happened when Padikkal was about to score his maiden ton in the cash-rich IPL.

On the other hand, Padikkal smashed his maiden century in the Indian Premier League to steer his team to a convincing 10-wicket victory over Rajasthan Royals in Mumbai while chasing 178. He played an aggressive brand of cricket to put pressure on the opponent bowlers and reached his century in just 51 balls to score the fastest century by an uncapped player in the history of the league.

Padikkal’s smashed 11 fours and six magnificent sixes in his way of a ton and he also became only the third uncapped player in IPL to hit a century. Manish Pandey was the first uncapped player to achieve the feat way back in 2009 while playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore. the next one was Paul Valthaty who did it in 2011 for Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) as well.

“To be honest it’s been special, all I could do was wait my turn. When I had Covid all I wanted was to to come here and play, and when I missed the first one it really hurt me. The wicket was coming on really well, and when we get into a partnership like that it gets easier. No real tension when the hundred came, I told Virat to go for it. At the end of the day even if I didn’t get a hundred it wouldn’t have mattered to me if the team won,” Devdutt Padikkal said.

RCB will next take on Chennai Super Kings on Sunday, April 25.
