Shubhman Gill made a fine debut at the international arena and turned quite a few heads towards him. But he failed to take the same form into the Indian Premier League 2021 where he hasn’t played a noticeable innings so far. Gill’s latest failure came against Rajasthan Royals on Saturday, when he looked to be struggling in the middle before getting runout.
Gill came out to open with his usual partner Nitish Rana and both batsmen found it hard to time the ball. They couldn’t break the shackles free and Gill, eventually, perished trying to rotate the strike. Mustafizur Rahman came in to bowl the sixth over. Gill tapped the ball towards Jos Buttler and went off for a risky single. Buttler was quick to react to the situation and grabbed the ball to hit the bull’s eye.

That was curtains for Gill’s painful stay at the crease, where he failed to time the ball. He played 19 balls and managed only one boundary before finally getting out for 11.
Kolkata Knight Riders managed just 25 runs inside the powerplay and lost Gill’s wicket. Nitish Rana also threw his wicket just after the powerplay.

Earlier, Rajasthan Royals won the toss and asked KKR to bat first. Sanju Samson made two changes in his team, bringing Jayadev Unadkat and Yashasvi Jaiswal back in place of Shreyas Gopal and Manan Vohra. On the other hand, Eoin Morgan replaced Kamlesh Nagarkoti with Shivam Mavi.
Both teams are desperate to win this game. While KKR is placed seventh on the points table, RR is one place below them. Both teams have managed only a single victory in the four games they have played so far in the IPL 2021.
