Kolkata Knight Riders captain Eoin Morgan has been leading the team quite well now, although he faced failures at first. He took over the responsibility midway through the 2020 season when Dinesh Karthik decided to step down.
However, Kolkata failed to make it to the playoffs two years on a trot due to the poor net run rate. While Eoin Morgan wasn’t judged too harshly for the 2020 season, this season they had a poor start. In the first phase, KKR failed to do well. However, in the UAE phase, they have bounced back beating Royal Challengers Bangalore and Mumbai Indians in consecutive games as well.

However, KKR has recently signed the England cricket team’s analyst Nathan Leamon. With who, Eoin Morgan has a great rapport and together they have featured in many successful matches. Meanwhile, during the matches in the UAE phase, Leamon was seen having a pad on which a number was written. And, the font size of the number is too large and it can be viewed from the middle by Morgan as well.
During the match between Kolkata and Mumbai, when the commentators were having a chat with McCullum, Leamon was seen displaying numbers to share something as well. While it is not clear what was he saying, it can be speculated that he was giving a tip to Eoin Morgan.

Eoin Morgan, after winning the game, said: “Well it’s been a long time coming. Since Baz (McCullum) has taken over last year, the way we have played in the last two games is the way our coach wants us to play. It suits our talent to play this way. To hold such a strong Mumbai Indians side to 155 and chase this down gives us confidence. Fitting Venkatesh Iyer into our XI has been difficult with a lot of talented guys, and it’s fanastic the way he’s scored his runs.”

“In the practice games too he has gone on to play this way. Sunil and Chakravarthy are two formidable bowlers. Sunil has been integral to KKR winning when they’ve done. Varun is the fresh guy. The first two games in this phase has been the template for us to play. There’s only one way for us to go in the points table and that is upwards,” he concluded.
