Team India is currently locking horns with Australia in the first match of the three-match T20I series at the Gabba, Brisbane. After winning the toss, the Indian skipper decided to bowl first citing the chances of rain later on in the game. As compared to the 12-member squad announced on the eve of the game, Yuzvendra Chahal was the one to be dropped as Kuldeep Yadav played the game. The visitors were chasing a target of 174 in their quota of 17 overs due to the D/L method as some downpour happened during the Australian innings.
Coming into the chase, Indian openers had a fiery start but Rohit Sharma was dismissed early. Shikhar Dhawan carried on with his form but failed to take India over the line as scored 70-odd before getting out in the 12th over. Team India needed, 60 in the last four overs, then came the big over when Andrew Tye was smashed for as many as 25 runs in the 14th overs. However, Dinesh Karthik was found lucky in the last two balls of the over combined with some brilliant effort from Glenn Maxwell.
On the penultimate ball of the over, Karthik tried to smash the full ball outside off over the cover boundary but the ball took the thick outside edged only to cross the boundary rope at third-man. On the very next ball, Karthik slapped the ball over deep mid-wicket, but Maxwell leaped to catch outside the boundary but can’t chuck the ball back in before he lands on the floor. He was running diagonally back to his left and with that angle, he can only end up over the rope somehow.
